چکیده

Eye exposure to hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) acid can cause blindness. A 42-year-old man working in a plating operation presented the emergency department following workplace incident. He had unintentionally fallen into tank containing mixture of 25% Cr(VI) and sulfuric (2.0 g/L) at temperature approximately 40 °C. The dimensions were 8 (depth) × 4 (width) 3 (length) meters. colleague rescued him from tank, he underwent full body wash worksite. Emergency services adequately flushed both eyes with 0.9% saline solution. significant corneal injury; however, no other injuries occurred. Upon presentation department, patient whole-body shower, As treatment for acute poisoning, received dimercaprol ascorbic acid. Additionally, eye drops chemical injury. later bilateral transplants injury but remained nearly blind. We describe case severe limbal stem cell deficiency, leading blindness due Cr (VI) exposure.

Acute severe chromium poisoning after dermal exposure to hexavalent chromium.

Severe acute chromium poisoning related to dermal involvement has rarely been reported in the literature. We report a case of acute severe chromium poisoning through skin exposure as a result of a chemical burn of 15% of the body surface area and multiple organ failure after short-term exposure. Medical interventions, including mechanical ventilation, continuous venovenous hemofiltration, and p...

Lung Inflammation, Injury, and Proliferative Response after Repetitive Particulate Hexavalent Chromium Exposure

BACKGROUND Chronic inflammation is implicated in the development of several human cancers, including lung cancer. Certain particulate hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] compounds are well-documented human respiratory carcinogens that release genotoxic soluble chromate and are associated with fibrosis, fibrosarcomas, adenocarcinomas, and squamous cell carcinomas of the lung. Despite this, little is kn...

Carcinogenicity of hexavalent chromium.

Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)), a commonly used industrial metal, is a well known human lung carcinogen. Epidemiology and animal studies suggest that the particulate Cr(VI) compounds, specifically the water insoluble compounds, are the more potent carcinogens; however, the carcinogenic mechanism remains unknown. Here we summarize recent Cr(VI)-induced human tumour, in vivo, cell culture and in vi...
